Since venturing into management, Sir Robin Miller has been appointed non-executive Director and Chairman of HMV and non-executive Chairman of Edge Performance VCT plc.

On episode 4 of People in Franchising, our hosts Suzie and David catch up with Claire O'Connor, CEO of the dance franchise babyballet. babyballet has achieved impressive growth since 2005 and now has 83 franchisees across the UK running around 2,000 classes a week for 25,000 children. The company has also gone global with licences in Singapore and Australia.

Episode 6 with Denise Hutton-Gosney
On episode 6 of People in Franchising, Denise Hutton-Gosney, Founder and Managing Director of Razzamataz Theatre Schools joins Suzie and David. With a passion for performing arts, Denise founded Razzamataz in 2000 in Penrith, Cumbria. In 2007, the business entered the spotlight when Denise appeared on Dragons' Den and was backed by Duncan Bannatyne, helping the business grow into an award winning franchise network of more than 40 schools across the UK. Razzamataz is now a long-time client and friend of Platinum Wave.

Episode 7 with Dr Katie Morris
Dr Katie Morris, Clinical Psychologist and Franchisor for The Purple House clinic joins Suzie and David this week. The Purple House Clinic is a group of private psychology clinics located in England and Scotland. Its first founding practice was established in 2013 in Loughborough, Leicestershire. From here, the business grew a large client base and gained a reputation across the East Midlands as a high quality provider of psychological services. Since 2013, three more extremely successful franchised practices have been established, located in Leicester, Lincoln and Glasgow. Dr Katie Morris joins our hosts to chat about her background in psychology, what attracted her to franchising and how she has been managing her own mental wellbeing throughout lockdown.

Suzie and David are thrilled to welcome Sarah Cressall, author, speaker, founder of the UK’s leading Creative Activity Business, The Creation Station, and a much loved personality in the franchising scene. Whilst working on Operations Raleigh in Zimbabwe helping local women run their own creative businesses, Sarah Cressall realised just how passionate she was about this. Upon her return home in 2002, Sarah established what would be a multi award-winning arts and crafts franchise with over 100 franchise owners. Not only is Sarah a multi award-winning entrepreneur, she’s also an author who’s book, Creative Sparks, shot to number one in its Amazon category, and an experienced keynote speaker at a variety of conferences, creative events and franchise events such as Franchise Fest.

Nigel Apperley, started Trustist in August 2014. At the time he was the director of E-commerce at Kwik-Fit and has held senior positions at Slendertone, Waterford Wedgwood Royal Doulton and Canon Europe. Nigel also started Internet Cameras Direct in 1999 and grew the business from nothing to a turnover of over £20m before selling to a French company. Trustist is very active in the franchise sector and is and Official Partner of the Approved Franchise Association and Ambassador for Encouraging Women into Franchising.
